Canon PIXMA MP550 and PIXMA MP560 mid-range All-In-Ones deliver high quality, intelligent printing for home users and photo enthusiasts London, UK August 19th 2009: Canon has announced two new mid-range PIXMA All-In-One printers that deliver photo lab quality prints and incredible ease of use. The PIXMA MP550 and PIXMA MP560 are part of an extensive PIXMA All-In-One printer line-up for 2009, all of which enable home users, photo enthusiasts and professional users to get even better results from their prints - from plain paper documents to high resolution digital images. PIXMA MP560 is also Wi-Fi compatible for easy wireless printing. Both PIXMA MP550 and PIXMA MP560 feature Easy-PhotoPrint EX that makes it even easier to produce high quality output from users’ digital photo collections. These include Auto Photo Fix II, which uses multi-zone algorithms to provide just the right amount of image correction to different parts of users’ photos – resulting in beautifully balanced photo prints.Auto Photo Fix II is joined by Easy-WebPrint EX, which enables users to intelligently clip key sections of a website page and then either print them or save as a PDF. The Easy-WebPrint EX software enables users to combine content from several web pages into a single document, helping to reduce paper and ink costs. Easy-WebPrint EX is available as a software download from www.canon-europe.com.Photo lab quality made easy Both PIXMA MP550 and PIXMA MP560 include a range of enhanced features that deliver photo lab quality prints in even less time than comparably priced predecessors, while also making the printers easier to use. Both printers use Canon’s 1pl FINE (Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) print technology which produces grain-free prints at resolutions of up to 9600 dpi. Ink is supplied to the print head using five individual ink tanks - one containing pigment-based black ink for laser-quality text printing, and four dye-based coloured inks for lab quality prints of users’ favourite digital photos. Built-in LED indicator lights in the single inks make it easy for users to gauge when each cartridge needs replacing.Improvements to the print engine used in the PIXMA MP550 and PIXMA MP560 means that Canon’s mid-range models are faster than ever before. Both are capable of producing photo lab quality, borderless, 10x15cm (4x6”) prints in approximately 39 seconds. Canon has also become one of the first printer manufacturers to adopt the ISO/IEC 24734 and 24735 print and copy speed measurements tests, enabling users to directly compare print and copy speeds between different models and manufacturers. PIXMA MP550 and PIXMA MP560 are both capable of producing approximately 9.2ipm (images per minute) for mono documents and approximately 6.0ipm for colour documents. PIXMA MP550 and PIXMA MP560 also deliver long-lasting photo print thanks to Canon’s ChromaLife100+ technology. Images printed using Canon inks and photo paper are colour-fast for at least 300 years* when placed in an album, and last for approximately 20 years when exposed to the atmosphere or placed under glass.
